Advancing Potato Sustainability

The Potato Sustainability Alliance (PSA) is an inclusive, pre-competitive collaboration of all players in the potato value chain. We are defining, measuring, and advancing potato sustainability by using robust metrics to drive improvements in productivity and profitability. Our efforts are focused on protecting the environment and streamlining how farm-level data is collected and made available to end-users.

For the past 10 years, and currently, PSA conducts an annual sustainability survey of over 500 potato growers in the US and Canada. The data collected from this survey is aggregated across all growers and within various geographic regions and develops PSAs industry-wide reporting on nitrogen use efficiency, irrigation use efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions, pesticide risk, worker safety, and waste/recycling.

Today’s world is demanding more sustainability from food systems, including farmers, to feed the world in a safe and responsible way. Processors, retailers, manufacturers and consumers all share a stake in creating the sustainable food systems of the future. Join our sustainability journey by contacting us today.

Sustainability means leaving the land that's had the same last name for many years in better shape than I got it. I believe that by constantly honing our skills as sustainable farmers, we can deliver safe quality food to the world, while making sure our farm is constantly benefiting from those production methods.
